Assalamu ‘Alaikum Dear Community Members,
The Board of Directors of The Outaouais Islamic Centre (OIC) made an assessment of the status of the pandemic’s evolution in the country as a whole and in the region in particular. Considering the heavy pressure that was placed on the mosque last Friday as a result of the closure and decrease in the authorized capacity of worshippers for several mosques in the National Capital Region, and wanting to contribute to the government’s efforts to control the spread of the pandemic, the Board would like to inform members of the community of the following :
- Suspension of the JUMU’AH prayer for the next two weeks. A daily evaluation of the situation will follow and will allow to reconsider this decision.
- Access to the mosque will be banned on Friday from Fajr prayer until 2:30 PM (time of the ‘Asr prayer);
- The daily prayers will be maintained and will take place as usual in strict compliance with the health guidelines that have been in effect for several months.
The Board would like to thank members of the community for their understanding and collaboration. Jazakumu ‘Alla-u Khayra.
The OIC Board of Directors
